21st Century Libraries: Understanding Library Users - Today in Rockville Theatre Arts Arena
Today from 2-3:30 p.m. the Montgomery College libraries and the Office of Facilities Planning and Design will co-sponsor a seminar entitled "21st Century Libraries: Understanding Library Users."
The seminar will be on the Rockville Campus in the Theater Arts Building. The keynote speaker will be Joan K. Lippincott, associate executive director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI). CNI exists "to support the transformative promise of digital information technology for the advancement of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual property," http://www.cni.org/about-cni. Some 200 institutions representing libraries, higher education, publishing, information technology and others make up the institutional membership of CNI.
Dr. Lippincott leads CNI's programs in teaching and learning, assessment and learning spaces. She has spoken twice in recent years on MC's Rockville Campus about the concepts of learning commons for libraries and related organizations. Join us in welcoming her back on October 2, as the kickoff event for the exciting ethnographic study project to start this fall for the Rockville Campus Library.
